March 23, 2023: Notice is hereby given that the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Air Pollution Control Board will receive public comments upon the application for the installation of the following air pollutant source in Hamilton County, TN.
Allied Metal Co. has proposed to install two furnaces for the production of secondary aluminum at 3440 Lightfoot Mill Road, Chattanooga, TN. Both furnaces will be fueled exclusively by natural gas and will utilize filter baghouses. These furnaces will replace two furnaces for secondary zinc production. Potential increases in annual air pollutant emissions resulting from this replacement are estimated to be no more than 13.61 tons of particulate matter, 12.73 tons of nitrogen oxides, 11.21 tons of carbon monoxide, 6.50 tons of hydrogen chloride, 0.73 ton of volatile organic compounds, 0.72 ton of chlorine, and 0.076 ton of sulfur dioxide.

Comments or requests must be received by 4:30 p.m. EDT, Friday, April 28, 2023, to be considered in the proposed permitting action.
