In Hamilton County, the Air Pollution Control Board and the EPA have primary enforcement authority for air pollution regulations.  We have been granted a Certificate of Exemption, meaning that the State of Tennessee has relinquished its primary authority to enforce air pollution regulations within Hamilton County and its included municipalities.

Permitting is the primary form of enforcing regulations in Hamilton County, Tennessee.  We permit Major and Minor air pollution sources, asbestos, gasoline dispensing facilities, dry cleaners, and residential burning.
