Public Notice – Signal Mountain Cement

Feb. 7, 2024 – NOTICE OF PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD AND OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC HEARING FOR A PROPOSED PERMITTING ACTION

Notice is hereby given that the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Air Pollution Control Board will receive public comments upon the renewal application for the operation of the following air pollutant source in Hamilton County, TN.
Signal Mountain Cement Company d/b/a Buzzi Unicem USA has applied for the renewal of the Part 70 (Title V) permit for their manufacturing facility at 1201 Suck Creek Rd., Chattanooga, TN. Potential air pollutant emissions from the facility are estimated to be 1,765.53 tons/year of nitrogen oxides, 1,086.73 tons/year of carbon monoxide, 392.01 tons/year of sulfur oxides, 348.75 tons/year of particulate matter, 98.93 tons/year of volatile organic compounds, and 2.26 tons/year of hydrogen chloride.

Written comments on this proposed permitting action or requests for a public hearing concerning it should be mailed or delivered to the Bureau Executive Director at the above address. Comments or requests must be received by 4:30 p.m. EST, Friday, March 8, 2024, to be considered in the proposed permitting action.

If a public hearing is requested, notice of the date, time, and location of the hearing will be posted on the Bureau’s website, apcb.org., by Wednesday, March 13, 2024.
