Public Comment Period and Hearing for a Network Modification Request

Notice is hereby given that there will be a public hearing before the Executive Director of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Air Pollution Control Bureau (Bureau) regarding a network modification request to discontinue a PM2.5 monitoring site in an Addendum to the Chattanooga-Hamilton County portion of the 2021 State of Tennessee Annual Monitoring Network Plan.

Tennessee is required by 40 CFR §58.10 to prepare and submit an annual monitoring network plan which provides documentation of the establishment and maintenance of an air quality surveillance system consisting of a network of monitoring stations along with any proposed network modifications. The Bureau submits a yearly evaluation of the Hamilton County monitoring network for inclusion in the Tennessee network plan. The Bureau is submitting an Addendum to the 2021 State of Tennessee Annual Monitoring Network Plan to request the discontinuation of a PM2.5 monitoring site located behind The City of East Ridge’s City Hall, 1517 Tombras Avenue. The City of East Ridge has built a dog park around the site and has requested that the site be removed. This site does not indicate the highest data in Hamilton County, and is not required by 40 CFR §58, Appendix D, since two other PM2.5 sites remain in the attainment area.
