Notice of Public Comment Period for Part 70 Permits

Aug. 25, 2014: Notice is hereby given that the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Air Pollution Control Board (Board) will receive public comments upon certain proposed permits.

 Anyone desiring to request a public hearing concerning any of these permitting actions should request a public hearing in writing and deliver that request to the Director, Chattanooga-Hamilton  County Air Pollution Control Bureau (Bureau), 6125 Preservation Drive, STE 140, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37416-3740, by 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 30, 2014.  If a public hearing is requested, that hearing will be held Thursday, October 2, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. EST in the conference room at the Bonny Oaks Corporate Center, 6125 Preservation Drive, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37416.  The public is invited to comment concerning air pollution sources located within Hamilton County, Tennessee, as follows and set forth below:

Proposed Part 70 Major Source Operating Permit Renewals

The City of Chattanooga Landfill, 9327 Birchwood Pk., Harrison, TN  37341, an active municipal solid waste landfill, has submitted an application for renewal of its Part 70 operating permit.  A Part 70 permit has previously been issued for the facility.  There are no changes in the operation of the facility with associated emissions increases involved in this action.  Anyone having any questions or needing additional information regarding this matter should contact Cynthia McDaniel, 6125 Preservation Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416, by e-mail at This email address is being protected from spambots. •   Mueller Co., LLC, 1401 Mueller Avenue, Chattanooga, TN  37406, which operates and iron foundry with machining equipment, painting equipment, and assembly equipment necessary to produce complete valves, chiefly for potable water systems, has submitted an application for renewal of its Part 70 operating permit.  A Part 70 permit has previously been issued for the facility.  In its application, the facility has requested an increase in allowable volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions of 3.74 tons per year from the lost foam production area and lost foam casting operations.  Anyone having any questions or needing additional information regarding this matter should contact Cynthia McDaniel, 6125 Preservation Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37416, by e-mail at This email address is being protected from spambots. •  Porter Warner Industries, LLC, 2 E. 38th St., Chattanooga, TN  37410, a producer of resin-coated sand used in iron and steel foundries for forming cores, has submitted an application for renewal of its Part 70 operating permit.  A Part 70 permit has previously been issued for the facility. •   Rock-Tenn Converting Company, 1601 South Holtzclaw Ave., Chattanooga, TN  37404, a digital printer which prints large images mostly on vinyl and plastic substrates, has submitted an application for renewal of its Part 70 operating permit.  A Part 70 permit has previously been issued for the facility. •   Sofix Corporation, 2800 Riverport Road, Chattanooga, TN  37406, a producer of an organic chemical dye known as “color former” used to coat pressure-sensitive carbonless duplication paper and thermal sensitive facsimile paper,  has submitted an application for renewal of its Part 70 operating permit.  A Part 70 permit has previously been issued for the facility.
